Note to the Listener
In order to clearly present the seventy-one short pieces on this recording, I have divided them into three sections, each approximately twenty minutes in length. I recommend listening to one segment at a time. Within each are small clusters of pieces—mostly ordered by tonality, but sometimes by similarity of theme. The two Arpeggio pieces, tracks #34 and #52, divide the sections, and can serve as beginnings or endings to the divisions. —Harriet St. Clair Jones
